Flam to Balestrand (via Gudvangen by Bus and 2 Boats)

We left Flam in the morning by bus to Gudvangen, instructed by the info centre to then get a ferry up the Naeroyfjord (narrowest fjord in Norway) to our next campsite - Balestrand. We got to Gudvangen and were told no ferries left here to Balestrand, and we would have to go to Flam...having just paid for a bus ride from Flam, we weren't keen to pay for a ferry back - but we couldn't miss the Naeroyfjord....luckily, being in Norway, the captain offered us a free ferry ride to Flam, where we could board a boat to Balestrand. The only catch was, we had to swap boats midfjord - which is exactly what it sounds like - walking the plank from one ferry (over freezing cold fjord water) to get on another! We evenutally made it back to Flam, and boarded the evening boat to our little campground at Balestrand.
